Frequently Asked Question’s

Important: before you start

Consult with your doctor or health professional before commencing any new health programme. You should seek professional help where individual assistance is needed.

What is PilatesPhysioPlanet and is it for me?

PilatesPhysioPlanet is online clinical pilates exercise classes, taught by an experienced senior physiotherapist and pilates instructor.  Jacquelyn is a chartered physiotherapist and registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

You will receive a new 30 minute class each week to keep your workouts fresh, and prevent the monotony of repeating the same class over and over.  You will have access to one month’s worth of classes (4) at any given time.  You can log in and do a class as many times as you like – there are no restrictions on how often you can log in.

You will be given the option to progress the exercise to make it more challenging, but remember this is only an option and you should exercise at the level that is right for your body.  You will improve your strength, flexibility and posture so that you can improve your lifestyle.

I have a medical condition / injured / chronic health condition.  Can I still join PilatesPhysioPlanet?

If you have an injury or pre existing medical/health condition, please consult your doctor or professional healthcare provider before you begin.  You may already have been recommended by your health professional to begin pilates.

I’m in pain all the time.  Should I push through the pain barrier?

No, you definitely should not!  You can still do pilates but always always always listen to your body.  You shouldn’t exacerbate any pain.  If you are in pain all the time, then this is your baseline level of pain, and you shouldn’t push past this.  It’s ok to feel a muscle work, but excruciating pain is not ok.  If there is a particular exercise which you know aggravates your pain, don’t do it – it’s that simple.  Do an alternative exercise you know is ok for you, or rest and wait to join in the next exercise.  As always, chat to a health care professional if you have any worries.

Am I too old?

Never! You can transform your body and mind at any age. Remember to only do what you can do.  Listen to your body and stick to the level of each exercise that is right for your body.  If you’re concerned, have a chat with your health care professional.

I’m pregnant/have just had a baby can I take part?

For the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy, you can take part as normal.  After 12 weeks you should follow the pregnancy video (coming soon).  After having the baby you should wait 6 weeks, and ensure you have the all clear from your obstetrician.

I’ve had surgery, can I take part?

Yes, as the videos are low impact.  However, you must obtain the go ahead from your consultant before beginning.

I’m really unfit and haven’t exercised for years.  Will I manage it?

Yes!  It’s time to make the change towards better health and wellness.  These workouts are all low impact and you have the option of sticking to the lower level, or working a bit harder.  As always, listen to your body and choose the level according to how your body feels.

When visiting a webpage your browser checks if a copy of the files on the page is in its cache already. If so, it will save the visitor some downloading and make webpages load faster. Just clicking the refresh button (or hitting F5) won’t be sufficient in this case, because this reloads the webpage while still using the old files from the cache.
